Back to the list of news

Version 9.5 includes a major technical update (the transition from .NET 9 to .NET 10, and updates for Android 16). These changes were necessary for further development. In addition to these updates, this version also includes the following new features: keyboard shortcuts support, and improved screen utilization when playing messages in the translator, improved translations to other languages.

Translator

The translator supports keyboard shortcuts.

When you are in the editation mode, the following shortcuts are available:

Key shortcut Action
F1   Help - open this website (Windows only)
F2 Show/hide text for translation (text in the top panel)
F3 Show/hide translation (text in the bottom panel)
F4 Show/hide both texts
F5 Play the message using the speaker (or Ctrl + P)
F6 Play the message using the vibrations
F7 Play the message using the flashlight
Ctrl + N   New document (the current text is deleted)
Ctrl + O   Open from - the text to be translated is loaded from a txt file
Ctrl + S   Save to - the translated text is saved to a txt file
Ctrl + R   Generate a random text

When playing a message, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts:

Key shortcut Action
P Pause/resume playback (or F5/ F6/ F7)
S Stop playback
, Replay the previous (fully played) word
. Skip the current word and play the following one
/ Move to the next/previous character
Ctrl + / Ctrl + Move to the next/previous word
Ctrl + Shift + Move to the beginning of the message
L Turn message playback looping on or off
E, or F2 Show/hide the text in the top panel
D, or F3 Show/hide the translation in the bottom panel
C, or F4 Show/hide both texts

This is very useful when practicing listening. When you connect a keyboard (either Bluetooth or via a USB adapter), you can use these shortcuts to easily pause the audio, replay a word you didn’t catch, or hide and then reveal the text being played to check if you heard the message correctly.

The keyboard shortcuts for the playback has been chosed so that they would be partially compatible with LICW Morse Practice Page.

Another improvement to the translator is that when you start playing a message, the row of buttons that cannot be used in playback mode is hidden. This gives you more space to view the message itself.

Manual sending page

Keyboard support has also been improved on this page. You can also use the left/right Ctrl keys, or the [ or ] keys for the sending. This should allow you to connect a physical key to your phone using VBand or a similar device that simulates a hardware keyboard.

Translations

  • Q-Codes have been translated to Russian by Максиму М. Thank you!
  • For all other languages that were missing Q-Codes translations, the Q-codes have been translated at least using Google Translate.
  • Corrections of the texts for many languages.
